With more than 30 years of experience in real estate, Kay Bates has built a reputation as a trusted advisor, respected leader, and dedicated advocate for the North County San Diego community. Since beginning her career in 1992, she has successfully guided buyers, sellers, investors, and business owners through residential, commercial, land, and investment transactions while consistently delivering exceptional service and lasting relationships.
As the Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Excellence, Kay is known for her integrity, strategic guidance, strong negotiation skills, and unwavering commitment to helping clients achieve their real estate goals. She believes every transaction is built on trust, communication, and putting her clients’ best interests first.
Kay’s leadership extends well beyond real estate. She proudly served six years on the Escondido Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, culminating in her service as 2025–2026 Board Chair. She now continues serving as Immediate Past Chair, helping guide the Chamber’s ongoing mission to strengthen local businesses and the community.
In recognition of her outstanding leadership and service, Kay was honored with the Outstanding Citizen Award for her work as Board Chair. On June 26, 2026, San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond officially proclaimed “Kay Bates Day” throughout San Diego County, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the community and her commitment to public service.
Kay also serves as Chair of the SDAR Coastal Carlsbad Caravan and as a Committee Member of the Independent North County Caravan, where she collaborates with fellow real estate professionals to promote education, professionalism, and ethical business practices throughout the industry.
Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Kay’s journey reflects resilience, determination, and a lifelong passion for serving others. Before entering real estate, she worked as a flight attendant, an experience that broadened her perspective and strengthened the communication and relationship-building skills that continue to define her business today.
